Huddersfield Community Trust Receive Community Award

Huddersfield Community Trust are celebrating a successful year after receiving the Community Award at The Examiner Business Awards last night.

The awards took place at the John Smith’s Stadium with 11 awards presented on the evening including Employer of the year, Young Entrepreneur of the year and Business of the year.

The award highlights the continued efforts the Huddersfield Community Trust have made in the local community through various projects and events.

Over the past year we have enjoyed many highlights, students studying with our Elite Sports Education Academy all achieved a 100% pass rate in their Level 3 Extended Diploma Course, our cheerleading squad were crowned as national champions in the summer and The Huddersfield Giants Community team were awarded as outstanding in a review by the Rugby League for their Evolution Pathway which seeks to improve the skills of local community players.

Plans have been developed and fundraising is underway to have a multi-sensory room located within The Zone, this will ensure children and young people from across Kirklees and West Yorkshire have access to high quality and accessible facilities to support the development of core skills such as self-awareness, self-regulation and motor skills.

Chief Executive of Huddersfield Community Trust Lisa Hewitt commented,

We are delighted to have been awarded The Community Award, and we would like to dedicate it to a very special man, Roger Armitage.

Roger was a long serving Trustee of the charity who sadly passed away last month, he devoted a large amount of his time to helping us and I know he would be very proud.

I have the pleasure of working with a fantastic team at the Trust who do a wonderful job in the community and who are all truly inspired to make a difference”.
