Huddersfield Giants Rugby League Development Officer

Overall Purpose of Job:

  • To develop and promote the game of Rugby League on behalf of Huddersfield Giants Rugby League Football Club throughout Kirklees and the surrounding areas.
  • To provide high-quality development programmes for schools in all forms of Rugby league including teacher CPD.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work at Huddersfield Giants Community Trust as a Community Development Officer working in Primary and Secondary schools along with Community Clubs in Huddersfield and the surrounding areas.

The desired individual will be responsible for delivering a Primary and Secondary school development plan within Huddersfield and the surrounding areas in conjunction with the Huddersfield Giants Rugby League Club. We are looking for an individual who has strong communication skills, is well organised, has the ability to work both independently and as part of a team and always works to a high standard maintaining a professional manner.

The applicant must hold an existing Level 2 coaching certificate in Rugby League, a full UK driving license and be willing to undertake a DBS check. Rugby League coaching experience is essential, experience of Sky Try and/or multi skills delivery within schools would be a significant advantage.

The role is a full-time position of 37.5hrs a week and is offered as a fixed term contract until September 2019. The salary for the role is dependent on your skills, experience and current qualifications within a pay scale of £16-18k per annum.

Giants Community

Casual Coach

Overall Purpose of the role

To assist and support the Giants Community coaches in the delivery and implementation of a programme for Rugby League development within Kirklees Schools and surrounding areas. To run schools unaided and build good links and relationships with the community. To deliver practical Rugby League sessions for community programmes IE. PPA cover, after school clubs, Rugby Camps throughout the holidays. (Increased hours available throughout holiday periods)

Main Responsibilities

  • Delivering coaching sessions in school settings – these may include breakfast, lunch time or after school clubs and school holidays camps.
  • To raise the profile of Rugby League within Kirklees and North Kirklees to encourage maximum participation for both boys and girls.

Essential Attributes

  • Minimum Level 2 Certificate in Rugby League
  • A recognised First Aid Qualification
  • Knowledge and understanding of child protection issues including holding a current Safeguarding Children certificate
  • Willingness to work flexible hours in line with our programme delivery.
  • An accepted RFL Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
  • Good communication skills
  • Enthusiasm, energy and creativity
  • Be able to work within clearly defined rules and under the supervision of Huddersfield Community Trust

Full UK Driving Licence / Own transport is essential

Dance Zone 

Part Time Cheer/Gym/Dance Instructor

Overall Purpose of the role

To deliver cheerleading both within The Zone and in schools/communities across Kirklees, and provide high customer service at all times.

Main Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver structured Cheerleading and Gymnastics training sessions in line with The Zone safety policy.
  • To be responsible for the correct use, and safe keeping of equipment allocated to the Dance department (including all safety mats, kits, poms, and music equipment).
  • To be responsible for the safety, health and welfare of all staff and others in accordance with the Safety at Work Act 1974 and related legislation and the Trust’s Safety Policy, including any Codes of Practice produced and accepted by Huddersfield Community Trust, (The Zone).
  • To ensure a high standard of service to both external and internal users of The Zone, in order to sustain and enhance the image of The Dance Zone

Essential Attributes

  • Level 2 Gymnastics
  • Level 5 Tumbling
  • Experience of working with children
  • Good communication skills
  • Enthusiasm, energy and creativity
  • Experience of working in a team

Sports Zone

To run schools unaided and build good links and relationships with the community. To deliver practical Football and/or Multi Sports sessions for community programmes IE. PPA cover, after school clubs, Saturday morning JUST PLAY, Soccer/Multi Sports Camps throughout the holidays. (Increased hours available throughout holiday periods)

Main Responsibilities

·   Delivering coaching sessions in school settings – these may include breakfast, lunch time or after school clubs, Saturday mornings JUST PLAY and school holidays camps.

·   To raise the profile of football and multi sports within Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield and to encourage maximum participation for both boys and girls.

Essential Attributes

·   Minimum Level 2 Certificate in specific Sport or Multi Sport

·   A recognised FA First Aid Qualification

·   Knowledge and understanding of child protection issues including holding a current Safeguarding Children certificate

·   Willingness to work flexible hours in line with our programme delivery.

·   An accepted FA Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Disclosure (previously known as an FA CRB Disclosure)

·   Good communication skills

·   Enthusiasm, energy and creativity

·   Be able to work within clearly defined rules and under the supervision of Huddersfield Community Trust
